Router Protocol: Is ROUTE one of the best crypto low caps?

Router Protocol: Is ROUTE one of the best crypto low caps?

Router Protocol is under the spotlight right now as the long-awaited mainnet launch has been released a few days ago.

I am familiar with Router Protocol but I lost track as I wasn’t sure when the mainnet will be released.

Now that it’s done, it’s time to dive into Router and learn more about one of the most sub-$50 million low caps out there.

TLDR: The crypto ROUTE definitely looks like a favorable bet!

What’s Router Protocol/Chain?

Router Chain is a Proof-of-Stake Layer 1 blockchain designed for stateful bridging, allowing for the creation of omnichain DApps that hide the complexities of different chains from users and consolidate liquidity from various networks.

This technology allows users to deploy decentralized applications (DApps) across multiple blockchains simultaneously, as well as swap assets and transfer information between chains, addressing one of the most significant challenges in the blockchain world: interoperability.

Router Chain totally embraces the narrative of chain abstraction and interoperability.

Why do we need Chain Abstraction

Router Protocol addresses the fragmentation in decentralized finance by enabling seamless interaction between blockchains.

Currently, DApps and assets on one chain, like Ethereum, can’t easily communicate with others, such as Bitcoin.

Router Protocol solves this by allowing DApps to operate across multiple chains and optimizing asset transfers for efficiency. Its goal is to create a chain abstraction-based unified system where users can freely use cross-chain services and benefit from low fees, regardless of the blockchain network they’re on.

How Router Protocol Works

Router Protocol’s Cross Chain Intent Framework (CCIF) simplifies cross-chain transactions by converting a user’s intent, like transferring assets, into executable commands.

It breaks down the process into steps, efficiently routing them between blockchains. Key components include the Adapter Registry, which provides transaction parameters, the Pathfinder and Simulator, which find and optimize routes, the Composer, which generates necessary code, and the Relayer, which completes the transaction on the destination chain.

This streamlined process ensures fast and cost-effective cross-chain transfers.

Nitro: The Router Key Feature

Router Nitro is a decentralized cross-chain asset-swapping engine developed using the application-specific bridging architecture provided by Router Chain. Its pathfinder algorithm serves as the foundation for path discovery in DApps built on top of the platform.

Beyond asset transfers, Router Nitro also facilitates the transfer of arbitrary instructions alongside funds, enhancing the composability of DeFi across multiple blockchain ecosystems.

Adoption

Router has secured multiple partnerships over the years and its ecosystem is more robust than ever.

Its Nitro bridge is already pulling off decent numbers and I expect it to grow even further as on-chain activity will certainly rise in the future!

More than 100K transactions were executed on Nitro in the last 30 days for a volume of $48 million.

Team

Founded in 2020 by Chandan Choudhury, Priyeshu Garg, and Shubham Singh, Router Protocol emerged from their work with other decentralized finance (DeFi) projects.

While working in the industry, they identified major compatibility issues between blockchains. This led to the realization that cross-chain interoperability could be a game-changer in the space.

Funding

Router Protocol gained early support, raising $4.58 million in funding from investors like Coinbase Ventures and Wintermute. This backing helped them launch their initial software in 2022, followed by the release of their testnet in 2023 and finally their mainnet in 2024, positioning Router as a crucial player in the DeFi landscape.

Summary

I really like ROUTE as a low cap bet. It checks many marks. Project with a mature, robust infrastructure that took years to come to fruition while sitting at a very low cap is definitely worth checking.

Interoperability hasn’t benefited from a lot of hype in recent months but I think it will remain a safe narrative overtime as it’s inherent to crypto mass adoption!

Review of « Corn Chain »: a Bitcoin centric L2 Ethereum!

I’ve been keeping an eye on projects built around Bitcoin and recently checked out CORN. The token isn’t out yet, but they’re gaining momentum, likely due to their recent fundraising and the future airdrop. What’s CORN? Corn is a fresh Ethereum Layer 2 network that...

Complete review of Arbitrum: I think ARB token will surge!

Arbitrum looks interesting! Token was launched in 2023 and therefore never experienced a bull run yet. Mainnet was released before the token so the ecosystem had the time to build up. Fundamentals look solid but it’s fair to say that not much hype is going on for...
