I’ve been following Zano for over a year now.
As someone who values privacy, I grabbed some BEAM, ZEPH, and ZANO last year.
With Zano outperforming right now, it’s a great time to dive back in and see how much progress has been made since the Zarcanum upgrade.
Zano is a bit of a rabbit hole—there’s so much to explore. For this post, I will just humbly scratch the surface.
-What’s Zano?
At its core, Zano is a layer-1 smart contract platform designed with privacy, security, and scalability in mind.
It’s a platform tailored for building privacy-driven dApps and confidential assets.
With features like Confidential Assets, Escrow Contracts, and Aliases, it stands out from the crowd.
Every Zano transaction is fully private—hiding the amount, addresses, and asset type.
The only thing visible is the fact that a transaction took place.
Only the sender and receiver can see the actual details using transaction IDs.
Zano isn’t a newcomer either.
It’s been in the game since May 2019, consistently delivering through several market cycles, thanks to a dedicated team.
-Core Features of Zano
Ring Signatures: Zano uses ring signatures and stealth addresses to make transactions untraceable. Only the parties involved can access transaction data, keeping it private.
Stealth Addresses: Sending and receiving addresses are hidden to ensure the highest level of privacy for users.
Confidential Assets: Users can issue their own tokens or currencies on the Zano chain, with hidden addresses, amounts, and IP obfuscation ensuring security.
Hybrid PoW/PoS: By combining Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, Zano enhances security and mitigates the risk of double-spend attacks.
Ionic Swaps: This improved version of Atomic Swaps lets both parties cancel the transaction if the second actor doesn’t finalize it, solving the usual unfairness of Atomic Swaps.
Zarcanum: The first PoS scheme that ensures untraceability and hidden amounts, pushing blockchain consensus forward.
-Zarcanum: The Game Changer
Zarcanum is the upgrade that truly sets Zano apart. It brought the world’s first fully private Proof of Stake system, where staked amounts and transaction outputs are hidden.
Zarcanum transforms Zano into a multi-asset financial platform with full privacy, creating the perfect environment for private finance (PriFi) to flourish.
-Ecosystem and Growth
Crypto projects often struggle with adoption, and Zano is no exception.
The infrastructure is solid, but the next step is getting more people to build and use it. The good news is that Zano has a clear plan to accelerate growth.
In the coming months, they’ll announce the Zano Grant Program to support third-party projects.
If you have something exciting to offer, you can already get in touch as far as I understand.
Plus, there’s a sub-channel in the Zano Telegram group specifically for apps, creating a space where builders and users can collaborate. Always a positive signal to see a special focus on builders!
-The Team Behind Zano
Zano’s fully doxxed team brings strong expertise in technology and blockchain.
Andrey Sabelnikov, Co-founder and Core Developer, has a background in system programming and antivirus development. After a legal battle with Microsoft, he became the lead developer for CryptoNote.
Pavel Nikienkov, Co-founder and Project Manager, has over 10 years of experience in managing software products and focuses on growing Zano’s adoption.
Valeriy Pisarkov, Core Developer and Research Lead, holds a master’s in applied mathematics and computer science. A CryptoNote expert, he previously worked in gaming before leading projects.
Quinten van Welzen, Community Manager and Head of Marketing, has been in crypto since 2017, significantly growing Zano’s community presence.
-In Summary
Zano is one of those projects that has a clear vision and the dedication to execute it.
They’ve been building consistently for years, staying true to their belief in digital privacy.
With recent partnerships, including bitcoin(.)com, it’s clear they’re making moves.
I’m not making any price predictions for but I’m confident about its long-term potential.
Just remember, privacy projects often face regulatory hurdles and may not always be the hottest narrative.
But if privacy matters to you, Zano is definitely worth looking into.
I’m going to keep exploring this rabbit hole. 🫡
